Semillas Fitó


Semillas Fitó (Fitó's seeds in English) started up more than one hundred years ago as a horticultural nursery arriving nowadays like one of the largest companies on the field of seed elaboration across Europe.
Along its history has improved a lot in Mediterranean varieties and then starting a international expansion for achieving excellence on seeds field. Currently, it is getting customers from all the corners of the planet and a straight strategy on R&D. This continuous and unstopeable work has evolved into a modern company which stay ahead in the research about seed's improvement and becoming a very well-known name for decades ago.

Our work there consisted in helping and support them across the whole ERP selection process for replacing their several existing management systems to a unique solution which holds the functionality of the company and their branches abroad. As a manufacturing company, the key subject on ERP success relays on catch-and-track accurate data from sales orders through the production zone and, later on, transform that data in reliable accounting and analytical charts which will delivered to all departments in order to continuous enhancement . 

We succeed in divided and streamline the whole selection process in several steps which grew up both in future company development and market challenges:
  • Process improvement. On this step we learnt about the different functional process across the company and key points due to we treat with organic products got from organic and natural processes. We found similar challenges such as industry process and no-deterministic results (among others).
  • Documented processes and RFP build up. Once understood the previous step we could write up a complete documentation and a accurate RFP (+800 requirement with their related weighs)
  • Best-in-breed solution providers. On this step we select the best providers among the best partners from the large solutions for industry (SAP, Micrososft, Oracle, QAD, CDC, Lawson and a couple more) based on Barcelona and with branches or strong alliances for rolling out the system in Fitó delegations and partners abroad.
  • Provider bid standardisation. In this step collide all the stuff gathered until that moment settling down in a homogeneous valuation. We performed a huge work align all the bids because of the only standard valuation required was the RFP and we gave freedom to providers in order to receipt the best bid they could offer. We put order among that mess aligning them all and getting as result one grade for each provider.
  • Provider landing. Once we put science we could arrange a short list of providers based not only in facts and assessment unless vendor involvement and, of course, human touch behavior.
I am proud not only about the success of the providers selection even for developing a scientific proposal evaluation which fits as long as we need for evaluating and elastic enough for fitting across all providers biding methodologies, and caught out intangible added values to the project and transmitted all together to Fito selection committee.
